We pause this Music Swap summer break to bring you an entry about saying yes to a show invite. Adam, Kody, and Mat (plus wives and other friends) got together for a Goose concert on Wednesday night in Indianapolis. Adam has the play-by-play on how it went down.
Enjoy the story!

Bonus Track: Recap of Goose in Indy 6.12.24 by Adam Tait
Picture this, it’s the middle of February and Goose has announced their summer tour dates and the lottery opens for tickets. Now the lottery is truly for those folks looking to hit multiple shows, but you do it anyway because it’s darn right fun. You coordinate this entry with your good pal and his wife, who you know will be in town for the show due to their involvement in a very large conference for people of a certain sect.
Now, imagine you have an additional couple in the friend group who you know will also be in town, but are not actually into Goose or jam music for that matter. You all encourage them to get tickets, but they kick the can down the curb (after multiple invites). Then, on the day of the show, you miraculously convince them to GO TO THE SHOW.
You make the voyage north from Louisville to Indianapolis and you rendezvous with those aforementioned friends. Immediately you’re struck by how nice the venue is and you even add a couple pals to the mix, because this is the jam scene after all.
Goose immediately takes off into a classic deep cut from the pre-Goose band led by Pete, Great Blue. You then meander into some super solid jams and even a set one cover. After set break, you’re launched into another epic cover that really gets the engine running if you know what I mean. That said cover even sparks some dancing from your not-so-jam-friendly companion that tagged along for the ride. You then hear a COVETED cover of Shama Lama Ding Dong (Otis Day and the Knights) immediately followed by two 20-minute long jams all before the show comes to a bittersweet end with an upbeat singalong tune for an encore. And after every song the crowd participates in a tribal chant of “goooooooose” that would give the common passerby goosebumps (no pun intended).
While all this is going down Andrew Goedde’s light show (shoutout GSL Indy) is blowing minds left and right. The lights alone spark roars from the crowd. Goedde is the hometown hero and you leave thinking, “I’m never missing an Indy show, these lights have changed me!”
All in all, you leave the evening with core memories made with friends on stage and off and you can’t wait for the next show.
What if I told you this was my reality? What if I told you this literally just happened to me? If there is one thing you need to remember from this recap, it’s to always go to the show. It will be worth it!
